KUALA TERENGGANU: The night river cruise on Sungai Terengganu, which was introduced by the Islamic Civilisation Park (TTI) as its latest tourist attraction on May 1, has so far proved to be a runaway success.

The managing director of TTI Management Sdn Bhd (TTIMSB), the park’s operator, Wan Adnan Wan Abdul Rahaman said the latest service complemented the park which featured various Islamic architectural monuments in the world apart from the famed Crystal Mosque and a convention centre.

Wan Adnan said the Sungai Terengganu river cruise actually began in 2009 but it was held only during the day.
“We found tourists’ response to the cruise was encouraging and decided to start a night cruise from May 1. “In fact the demand for the night cruise has surpassed the day tour,” he said when accompanying State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jidin Shafee on the cruise on Wednesday.

Also joining the cruise were hotel and resort operators as well as state tourism associations. Wan Adnan said the TTI River Cruise based at Pengkalan Tok Ku Paloh, TTI, was held twice nightly at 8pm and 9.30pm with each trip taking one hour and 15 minutes.

He said the cruise would start from the TTI arch to the Crystal Mosque and Kampung Losong, Pulau Warisan, Taman Selera Tanjung and return through Kampung Duyong to Tok Ku Paloh base. He said TTIMSB had eight boats which could carry between 32 to 42 passengers per trip which cost RM49 for adults and RM15 for children while children under three years old would not be charged.

The fare is considered reasonable as passengers would be treated to a buffet of nasi lemak, nasi dagang, nasi tomato, spaghetti bolognaise, roasted chicken and grilled fish as well as a wide array of desserts and hot drinks during the trip.
Wan Adnan said visitors should book their tickets two days in advance to ensure their seats on the cruise. – Bernama
